The makers of Prabhas’ upcoming dystopian sci-fi film Kalki 2898 AD have dropped a fresh release trailer offering never-before-seen glimpses of Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Deepika Padukone’s characters ahead of its June 27 release.

Dropped by the makers on Friday, the two-minute-22-second-long trailer begins with Ashwatthama telling Deepika’s character that God resides in her womb before he goes on to fight Prabhas with all his might. Saswata Chatterjee’s despot, who has ordered Prabhas to hunt down Deepika’s pregnant woman, also makes an appearance in the video.

The trailer then reveals Kamal Haasan’s look from the film. The actor, who plays the antagonist Supreme Yaskin, looks unrecognisable with a bald head and wrinkled face. He comments on how people would not change their nature no matter how many chances they get.

Set to a war song sung by Bachchan, the subsequent scenes show Deepika and other civilians trying to protect themselves in the battle. Malvika Nair also appears in the trailer as a pregnant woman who is hit by a laser. The trailer ends with an intense scene of Bachchan and Prabhas gearing up for their final showdown.

Deepika’s baby is presumed to be Kalki, the prophesied tenth and final incarnation of Vishnu.

Initially scheduled to hit theatres on May 9, Kalki 2898 AD has been announced to arrive in theatres on June 27. The release date has been reportedly pushed due to production delays.

Santhosh Narayanan serves as the music composer of the Nag Ashwin directorial, while the cinematography is done by Djordje Stojiljkovic. Kalki 2898 AD also stars Disha Patani, Brahmanandam and Shobhana.
