The makers of Kalki 2898 AD starring Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas and Deepika Padukone urged fans to avoid piracy and spoilers in a social media post ahead of the Nag Ashwin-directed sci-fi film’s June 27 release.
“Say no to spoilers and piracy… Together, we can keep the magic alive! #Kalki2898AD,” the official handle of the movie wrote on social media alongside a poster carrying a message for fans.
“This is a journey of 4 long years and this is the story of immense hard work put in by Nag Ashwin and team. There was no stone unturned in bringing this story to a global scale. There was no looking back or compromising in the quality. Blood and sweat have been put in by the team to bring this forward,” the message in the poster reads.
What follows is a humble request for fans and viewers to honour the hard work and artistry involved in creating the film. “Let’s please respect the cinema. Let’s respect the craft. It’s a humble request to not give out spoilers, give out minute-by-minute updates, or indulge in piracy and spoil the experience for the audiences,” it further states.
“Let’s join hands to safeguard the content of the movie and celebrate the success together,” the appeal concludes.
Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD is set in a dystopian future in Kasi, the last surviving city, now a desert wasteland ruled by a totalitarian elite under Supreme Yaskin, revered as a god-king. Their stronghold is the Complex, a colossal inverted-pyramidal megastructure. Central to the storyline is the arrival of Kalki, a mysterious figure and the tenth and final avatar of the Hindu deity Vishnu.
