Kalki 2898 AD advance booking: Prabhas-starrer sells over two lakh tickets in India

Helmed by Nag Ashwin, the dystopian sci-fi action film featuring Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Deepika Padukone hits cinemas on June 27

Prabhas-starrer Kalki 2898 AD sold over two lakh tickets in India within the first 24 hours of advance bookings, collecting more than Rs 6 crore gross by 10.30am on Monday, according to industry data-tracking portal Sacnilk.

Advance bookings for the Nag Ashwin directorial opened on Sunday. Featuring Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas and Deepika Padukone in key roles, the dystopian sci-fi action film will hit theatres on June 27.

Pre-sales for Nag Ashwin's sci-fi spectacle began in Karnataka, Telangana and Tamil Nadu on Sunday at 6pm. Ticket sales began in north Indian States on Monday at 10.30am.

“Witness the future unfold. Bookings for #Kalki2898AD are open across North India (Hindi) ,” the official handle of the movie wrote on X alongside a poster.

According to Sacnilk, as of 11am on June 24, Kalki 2898 AD sold 2.1 lakh tickets across languages for a revenue of Rs 6.25 crore gross.

Not just domestically, the Nag Ashwin directorial is making waves internationally too. With just three days to go before its release, Kalki 2898 AD has already sold over 1,13,000 tickets and amassed USD 3 million in sales in the North American region.

Prathyangira Cinemas, the film's distributor in North America, announced on X, “Records Records Records #Kalki2898AD Total North America Pre Sales hits $3 MILLION+ Mark and 113K+ tickets sold with 3 more days left until the release… absolute havoc Nuvvu kummeyyyyy Darling uuuu…#Prabhas #RebelStarOochakotha ”.

Set in the year 2898 AD, the film portrays Kasi as the last surviving city, now a desert wasteland ruled by a totalitarian elite under Supreme Yaskin, revered as a god-king. Their stronghold is the Complex, a colossal inverted-pyramidal megastructure. Central to the storyline is the arrival of Kalki, a mysterious figure and the tenth and final avatar of the Hindu deity Vishnu.

Santhosh Narayanan serves as the music composer of the film, while Djordje Stojiljkovic takes charge of the cinematography.
