Satish Kaushik plays a tormented father seeking justice for his daughter's death in his last screen appearance as an actor in Kaagaz 2, the first trailer of which was dropped by the makers on Friday in the presence of the late actor’s family.
The two-minute-25-second-long trailer introduces Kaushik as a father frantically trying to get past a rally to get his daughter to a hospital who is on the brink of death after an accident at home. However, the rally blocks the road, preventing his daughter from receiving any form of immediate medical attention and resulting in her death.
Bollywood veteran Anupam Kher plays a lawyer for Satish as the latter seeks justice for his daughter’s death. “It is time we raise our voices against the politics of the bandh, road marches, rallies and dharnas,” says Anupam’s character before the judge in the courtroom while pleading the case.
Things, however, escalate when a politician visits Kaushik’s home and threatens to harm his son (Darshan Kumaar) if he does not retract his case. Neena Gupta is seen as Satish’s wife in the trailer.
Sharing a poster of the film, Anupam on Friday penned a tribute for his best friend Satish. “Dearest #SATISHKAUSHIK! The trailer of your passion project and unfortunately the last project #Kaagaz2 is releasing tomorrow! I know how hard you worked to create this film,” he wrote before the trailer launch.
“A film based on true instances and in loving memory of dear Satish Kaushik ji, releasing in cinemas on 1st March,” the 68-year-old actor added.
Also starring Smriti Kalra, the courtroom drama is produced by Shashi Satish Kaushik, Nishant Kaushik, Ganesh Jain and Ratan Jain under the banner of Venus Entertainment. Directed by VK Prakash, Kaagaz 2 is slated to release in theatres on March 1.
