Actress Paoli Dam plays the role of a sex worker-turned-politician in the first teaser of Julie, an Aritra Sen-directed show set to stream on Addatimes soon.
“Presenting the Teaser of #Julie, directed by Aritra Sen, Coming Soon only on #Addatimes,” the streamer wrote on social media alongside the 44-second long teaser.
In the teaser, Paoli portrays Julie, a woman from a red-light district who ventures into mainstream politics. As Julie steps into her new political life, she confronts societal stigma and prejudice stemming from her past. Alongside Paoli, the series stars Gourab Chatterjee as a committed CBI officer, while Kaushik Sen takes on the role of an influential politician. Shruti Das plays the politician’s daughter. Sujoy Prasad Chatterjee will also play a key role in the series.
Aritra Sen has co-written the story of Julie along with Abhra Chakraborty. Nabarun Bose has composed the music for the series. Pratik Kar serves as the editor, while cinematography is handled by Basudeb Chakraborty.
Paoli and Aritra have previously worked together for the ZEE5 series Kaali. Sen’s last big-screen release was Ghore Pherar Gaan (2023) featuring Parambrata Chattopadhyay and Ishaa Saha. Paoli was last seen in Kamaleshwar Mukherjee’s Ektu Sore Bosun (2023).
