Anime series Jujutsu Kaisen has secured a spot in next year’s Guinness World Records as the most in-demand animated TV show in the world, the official Instagram page of the show announced on Tuesday.
“We’re thrilled to announce that JUJUTSU KAISEN has earned a spot in the Guinness World Records 2025 as the Most in-demand animated TV show in the World. Thank you to all the fans for making this achievement possible,” Jujutsu Kaisen’s official Instagram page wrote.
According to data-science firm Parrot Analytics and the official website of Guinness World Records, Jujutsu Kaisen has a global demand rating 71.2 times greater than that of an average TV show.
Jujutsu Kaisen was adapted into an anime series from Gege Akutami’s manga in October 2020. The story revolves around Yuji Itadori, a high school student who gets entangled in a world of cursed spirits and sorcerers after becoming the host for the ‘king of curses’ Sukuna while trying to save his classmate.
Popular anime series Attack on Titan, which concluded with its final season in November last year, had held the Guinness World Record spot since 2020. Attack on Titan, adapted from Hajime Isayama’s manga by WIT Studio (seasons 1–3) and MAPPA (season 4), had a global demand rating that was 68.2 times higher than the average TV show.
Animated by MAPPA, Jujutsu Kaisen surpassed One Piece as well, which has been experiencing a surge in viewership following Netflix’s live-action adaptation.
Besides scoring a world record, Jujutsu Kaisen has clinched several awards including the Anime of the Year trophy at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards in both 2022 and this year. Jujutsu Kaisen 0, a prequel movie which came out in 2021, emerged as the ninth highest-grossing anime movie of all time globally.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, which covered the story’s Shibuya arc, was one of the most hyped anime sequels of 2023. The series has been renewed for a third season, which will unravel the Culling Games Arc.
