Telugu star Jr NTR’s latest film Devara: Part 1 is inching towards the Rs 400-crore mark at the global box office with a collection of Rs 396 crore gross worldwide since its release, the makers said on Thursday.
At the domestic box office, Devara has surpassed the Rs 200-crore mark in six days.
“It’s his Brutal Massacre… Box office is left shattered and bleeding ,” the official handle of Devara wrote on social media.
According to industry data-tracking portal Sacnilk, Devara’s domestic box office collection now stands at Rs 208.35 crore nett. The Telugu version contributed Rs 159.35 crore nett to the earnings, while the Hindi version minted Rs 41.75 crore nett. The Kannada, Malayalam and Tamil versions together contributed Rs 7.25 crore nett.
Devara: Part 1 opened with an impressive Rs 82.5 crore nett on its first day, followed by Rs 38.2 crore nett on Day 2 and Rs 39.9 crore nett on the third day. It earned Rs 12.75 crore nett on its first Monday, followed by Rs 14 crore nett on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the film raked in an additional Rs 21 crore nett.
Jr NTR plays a double role of a father and son in Devara, which also stars Janhvi Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Shine Tom Chacko, Murali Sharma and Prakash Raj in key roles.
Devara is facing competition from Joker: Folie à Deux which released in theatres on October 2. The Todd Phillips-directed musical sequel, starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, earned Rs 5 crore nett in India on Day 1, as per Sacnilk.
Meanwhile, Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer Stree 2 completed 50 days of theatrical run on Wednesday. The Amar Kaushik-directed horror comedy film has collected Rs 619.66 crore nett in India so far.
