Jr NTR has been left “deeply shocked” by the death and destruction caused by a series of powerful earthquakes that hit parts of Japan following his return from the country last evening, the RRR actor mentioned in a note on Tuesday.
“Back home today from Japan and deeply shocked by the earthquakes hitting. Spent the entire last week there, and my heart goes out to everyone affected,” he wrote on X, wishing for Japan’s swift recovery as the island country is still reeling from aftershocks.
A 7.6-magnitude earthquake killed 30 people and destroyed numerous buildings and vehicles on Monday afternoon, prompting the Japanese Meteorological Agency to issue a tsunami alert for the entire western coast of Japan’s Honshu island and the northern part of Hokkaido.
In his note, the actor also mentioned the resilience of the people of Japan in the face of adversity. “Stay strong, Japan,” he signed off.
Fans flooded the comment section with concerns about the actor as well as prayers for the people of Japan. “Thank God you’re back in India❤️Stay strong Japan,” one of them wrote.
A Japan-based fan page of Jr NTR referred to his 2022 film RRR, which gained much popularity in Japan, wrote, “Thank you for your concern🙏A very serious thing happened, but Japanese people, including the suburbs of Ishikawa, have an indomitable spirit in any situation like RRR bheem.”
Jr NTR shot to global fame with SS Rajamouli’s RRR, which also starred Ram Charan. The film’s song Naatu Naatu, featuring both the actors, won an Oscar in at the 80th Golden Globe Awards held in Los Angeles in 2023.
The actor will be next seen in Koratala Siva’s film Devara alongside Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan, the first part of which will release on April 5 in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.
