After the success of Mitin Mashi in 2019, director Arindam Sil is all set to bring back Koel Mallick as Mitin Mashi this Durga Puja. Based on Suchitra Bhattacharya’s novel, Keralay Kistimaat, Jongole Mitin Mashi will have the spunky homemaker-cum-detective Mitin venturing into the forests of Saranda to crack down on a poaching racket.

“We had to do another Mitin Mashi film because of the incredible demand. The audience has been waiting for Mitin Mashi for the last four years. Mitin Mashi is about adventure; it’s a detective story and a thriller. It is also a very family film. It’s about the whole essence of being in a family, the humour, wit, togetherness and out of which comes this empowered woman who is not just a housewife but also a role model,” said Arindam.

Jongole Mitin Mashi addresses the issue of forest conservation and the dangers posed by poaching. “The film talks about the conservation of elephants. Somewhere down the line, there is an awareness that I want to create through this film,” added Arindam, who had directed the first film in this franchise, Mitin Mashi, in 2019, based on Suchitra Bhattacharya’s novel Haate Matro Tinte Din.

“There is a Mitin Mashi in every woman. The film also shows the power of women through the character of Mitin Mashi,” said Koel Mallick, who is back in full action mode as the fast-thinking sleuth. “I have done many entertaining films in my career. But Jongole Mitin Mashi entertains as well as gives out an important social message. We have to try our best to protect wildlife and maintain the ecological balance,” she added.

Bickram Ghosh has scored the music for the film, while Padmanabha Dasgupta and Arindam Sil have written the screenplay and the dialogues. Produced by Camellia, Jongole Mitin Mashi stars Arijit Dutta, Subhrajit Datta, Kamalika Banerjee, Lekha Chatterjee, Ashim Roy Chowdhury and Sandeep Dey in key roles. The film releases on October 19.
