Days after singing Dil To Pagal Hai song Bholi Si Surat in a viral video, American wrestler-actor John Cena has shared a picture of Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan in his signature arms-stretched-out pose, prompting a barrage of comments from fans on Instagram.
The picture shared by Cena shows the Jawan actor sporting a black coat over a matching t-shirt.
Soon after the post was shared, the official Instagram page of WWE India dropped a comment. “Legend recognises Legend ,” they wrote, garnering reactions from fans who expressed their desire to see the “two legends” together.
Streaming giant Netflix referred to Shah Rukh’s Dunki song Lutt Putt Gaya and wrote, “How did I see this exactly when I was playing Lut Put Gaya?! ”
“Rare picture of srk with John Cena,” wrote a fan, while another referred to the wrestler’s WWE “You can’t see me” catchphrase. Many of them also mentioned that John is “more Indian than Indians”.
Shah Rukh is yet to respond to Cena’s post.
Cena’s viral video, shared by one of Shah Rukh’s fan pages earlier this week, features Canadian wrestler Gurv Sihra who teaches Cena to sing Bholi Si Surat after their gym session.
In the video, Gurv introduced John as a “pretty big Shah Rukh Khan fan”. The WWE star repeated the lyrics after Gurv in Hindi and left netizens in awe.
However, this is not the first time Cena has expressed his admiration for the Bollywood star. On December 22, 2017, he shared a Ted Talks article on X about Shah Rukh’s thoughts on humanity, fame and love. “This was randomly put up in a small article by @theCHIVE very glad I stumbled across it,” he wrote alongside the article.
The Dunki star retweeted the post and wrote, “Thx for taking out time to ‘See’ it. Wish I can ‘See u’ someday. Love & health to u my man.”
There are many other instances of Cena sharing inspirational quotes by Shah Rukh in the past. “‘Neither power nor poverty can make your life more magical or less tortuous’ — Shah Rukh Khan,” the Suicide Squad actor posted on July 9, 2018.
Shah Rukh thanked John for his post and heaped praise on him for standing as an inspirational figure for children who look up to him. He wrote, “Thanks my friend for spreading the goodness. It’s important to inspire so many kids who look up to you as their hero.”
Shah Rukh was last seen in Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki alongside Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal. A sequel to his 2023 film Pathaan is on the cards, as announced by PVR Cinemas on Tuesday night.
