“This 15th August, hogi ek nayi jung, anyaay aur naainsaafi ke khilaaf! Taiyaar rehna. (This Independence Day be ready for a new fight against crime and injustice). #Vedaa in cinemas this Independence Day,” the makers shared on Instagram on Friday.

On March 19, a teaser dropped by the makers revealed that Sharvari is playing the titular character in the film. Vedaa is an aspiring boxer, but her social status stands in the way of her dreams. John plays Vedaa’s mentor in the teaser, which also features Tamannaah Bhatia.

Paatal Lok actor Abhishek Banerjee also appears in the teaser as a politician, who poses a threat to Abraham and Sharvari.

Touted as “a story of bravery, of the power of one”, Vedaa is written by The Buckingham Murders and Mission Majnu writer Aseem Arrora. The film is produced by Zee Studios in collaboration with John Abraham, Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani and Minnaskshi Das.
