Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker and Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn gaze into each other's eyes, unbothered by the blood stains on their faces, in the latest poster of Joker: Folie à Deux, dropped by the makers on Monday.
"Let's give the people what they want. Joker: Folie à Deux – only in theatres and @imax, October 4. #JokerMovie #FilmedForIMAX," reads the caption alongside the poster shared by the makers on their official X handle.
The poster showcases Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga in eerie clown attire and locked in an embrace as they sway together in an intimate dance.
While Phoenix will reprise his Oscar-winning role as Joker in the new movie, Gaga will step into the shoes of Harley Quinn, a character previously played by Margot Robbie in The Suicide Squad film series.
Joker: Folie à Deux is a musical drama that will continue the tale of Arthur Fleck, a failed comedian who finds love in the unlikely form of Harley Quinn while confined at Arkham State Hospital. The star-crossed lovers embark on a tragic romantic escapade upon his release.
Directed by Todd Phillips, the film will also feature Catherine Keener, Brendan Gleeson and Zazie Beetz as part of the supporting cast. The film is slated to hit theatres on October 4.
The 2019 Joker film amassed over USD 1 billion worldwide, making it the first R-rated film to achieve the feat and the sixth highest-grossing film of the year. The film received 11 nods at the Oscars including best actor for Joaquin which he went on to win.
