BTS member Kim Seokjin a.k.a Jin performed his hit songs, took on a dance challenge and hugged over 1,000 fans at the annual BTS FESTA 2024 held on June 13, a day after he completed his mandatory military service in the South Korean army.

Jin performed two of his hit songs — Moon, released in 2022, and The Astronaut, his last solo release before joining the army. The Astronaut, also released in 2022, was co-written by the British rock band Coldplay.

Jin also shared pictures offering a glimpse of other events and activities from the show, including a snap of himself holding a placard that read ‘Hug Me’, referring to the event where he greeted ARMY (BTS fanbase) by giving hugs to 1,000 fans.

The Epiphany singer surprised the audience with a performance of the extended version of his viral song Super Tuna released in 2021. At the end of the performance, Jin announced that he would be releasing this new version of Super Tuna soon.

In addition to the performances of his own songs, the singer took several challenges including his dance challenge of Jungkook’s hit song Seven from the artist’s solo album of the same name released in 2023. The song, also featuring Latto, secured the No. 1 rank on both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts. It also won the Millions Top 10 category at the Melon Music Awards in December 2023 and the Digital Song (Bonsang) category at the Golden Disc Awards in January this year.

BTS FESTA is an annual event that typically takes place in early June, lasting for about two weeks leading up to June 13, which is the date of BTS's debut. During BTS FESTA, the K-pop band releases new content such as special photos, videos, choreography videos, unreleased music, and heartfelt messages for their fans. It's a way for BTS to express gratitude to their fans and celebrate their journey together.

Enlisted in December 2022, Jin was the first member of BTS to join his compulsory military duties. After a five-week-long training, Jin joined the South Korean army as a drill instructor at the 5th Infantry Division. The singer was discharged from his services on June 12. The other members of the band— RM, J-Hope, Suga, Jimin, V and Jungkook — are still serving in the army. The band is likely to make a comeback in 2025.
