Actress Jennifer Aniston shared heartwarming pictures with her Friends co-star Matthew Perry from the sets of the long-running sitcom to mark his first death anniversary on Monday.
The 55-year-old actress shared a monochrome picture with Perry in which the duo can be seen making goofy faces. Another picture shows Perry, who played the beloved character Chandler Bing in the sitcom, giving a peck on Aniston’s forehead in between shots.
Aniston, who played Rachel Green, also shared a group photo featuring Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc and Courteney Cox. The last slide was a picture of Perry smiling to his heart’s content.
Tagging Matthew Perry Foundation, which was founded by Perry to help those who struggle with addiction, Aniston wrote on Instagram, “1 year ❤️🩹🕊️.”
Fans took to the comments section and expressed their grief over the actor’s passing last year. “Matty will always have his jenny’s love,” one of them wrote. “Still so hard to believe 🥺🥺❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹,” wrote another fan. Actress Jennifer Garner, too, expressed her sadness in the comments with red heart and bandaged heart emojis.
Aniston had paid tribute to Perry in a long Instagram post following his death on October 28, 2023. “He was such a part of our DNA. We were always the 6 of us. This was a chosen family that forever changed the course of who we were and what our path was going to be. For Matty, he KNEW he loved to make people laugh. As he said himself, if he didn't hear the ‘laugh’ he thought he was going to die. His life literally depended on it. And boy did he succeed in doing just that. He made all of us laugh. And laugh hard,” she wrote in her note.
Perry passed away on October 28, 2023 at the age of 54 in Los Angeles. While initial reports suggested that he died of cardiac arrest, an investigation led to the arrest of five people who allegedly took advantage of Perry’s addiction issues. An autopsy conducted by the LA County Medical Examiner’s Office revealed that the actor died from a ketamine overdose.
Friends ran for 10 seasons from 1994 to 2004. It followed a group of friends navigating through the ups and downs of their lives in New York. In 2021, the cast and showrunners reunited after more than a decade in Friends: The Reunion, which streamed on HBO Max.
