Janhvi Kapoor has shared a fresh behind-the-scenes video offering glimpses of the rigorous training she underwent while preparing for her role in Sharan Sharma’s upcoming sports drama Mr. & Mrs. Mahi.

The video features clips of Janhvi honing her batting skills to portray Mahima, a doctor with a passion for cricket. In the film, her husband Mahendra (Rajkummar Rao) recognises her talent and encourages her to chase her dreams.

Additionally, the BTS video contains shots of Janhvi running and lifting weights to maintain her physical fitness. Her shoulder pain after training is apparent in the video. Janhvi diligently works on correcting her batting stance. The video concludes with a clip of Janhvi’s Mahima hitting the ball out of the park.

The footage also reveals that Janhvi dedicated over 150 days to training and spent more than 30 days shooting the film, during which she sustained two injuries.

The makers had previously shared that Janhvi received two years of professional training for the role. However, the actress’ multidirectional instability led to severe injuries.

“And now we land up in a spot we are like okay, how do we make this film. She loves pushing. I don't know what fetish she has got with pushing herself to the limit, but she loves pushing herself to the tilt...I genuinely don't know how she kind of pushed through the pain barrier and gave her five thousand percent, through the training, through the shoot. She gave the film something that I don't think most actors would be able to commit that much,” director Sharan had said, praising Janhvi in the video.

Mr. & Mrs. Mahi marks Rajkummar and Janhvi’s second collaboration after the 2021 Hardik Mehta-directed horror comedy Roohi. It is also the second time Janhvi will be teaming up with Sharan after Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl (2020).

Backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, Mr. & Mrs. Mahi is slated to release in theatres on May 31.
