Oscar-winning actress Jamie Lee Curtis has been teasing a reunion with her onscreen daughter Lindsay Lohan in the reboot of their 2003 film Freaky Friday.
On Friday, Curtis posted a picture with Lohan and wrote about their much-talked-about reunion in a sequel. “Too late. YOU GREW UP and SO BEAUTIFULLY! Well, it's Friday, and the strike is over so hopefully, we can switch places again in the near future!” she wrote.
The Knives Out actress shared another picture with Lohan the day after. The picture is a collage of the latest photo she shared with Lohan and a throwback behind-the-scenes picture from the 2003 movie. “I love when the internet makes me look back in wonder and delight!” She captioned the image.
Curtis, who won her first Oscar for best supporting actress in Everything Everywhere All at Once, had posted a picture with Lohan in February, sparking rumours about their reunion. Disney later confirmed that a sequel of the mother-daughter comedy is on the cards.
Production for the body-swap comedy was put on hold during the SAG-AFTRA strikes. However, with the end of the strike, the film appears to be on track as Curtis is drumming up excitement about it.
Freaky Friday is based on the 1972 novel of Freaky Friday written by Mary Rodgers. The story revolves around conflict between mother Tess Coleman (Curtis) and daughter Anna Coleman (Lohan), and how they come to terms with it after a hilarious body-swap situation.
Despite not starring in any films together since Freaky Friday, Curtis has remained a part of her onscreen daughter’s life. Sharing maternity pictures of Lohan, Curtis wrote a heartfelt post stating that Lohan made her a “movie grandmother” after the birth of her son Luai with husband Bader Shammas.
