A remastered version of James Cameron’s 1997 romantic tragedy Titanic, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, is set to release in theatres this Valentine’s Week to mark 25 years of the Oscar-winning film.
The new version of the movie will be released in 3D 4K HDR with a high-frame-rate on February 10.
Titanic was first re-released in 3D in 2012 and once again on its 20th anniversary in 2017. The film is based on the real-life sinking of the ship RMS Titanic in 1912. Cameron humanised the tragedy by narrating a heartwarming love story in the backdrop of the sinking ship.
Jack Dawson (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Rose DeWitt Bukater (Kate Winslet), who belong to different social classes, meet on the ship and fall in love with each other. However, their love story is short-lived as the Titanic collides with an iceberg in its course.
Released in 1997, Titanic is the third highest-grossing movie (USD 2.2 billion) of all time, after Cameron’s 2009 visual epic Avatar (USD 2.9 billion) and Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame (USD 2.6 billion). Titanic is the second movie, after William Wyler’s Ben Hur (1959), to win 11 Academy Awards.
Ahead of the release, a new trailer and a poster have been released by the makers, The poster shows Jack and Rose sharing a warm embrace. However, social media users have also noticed a mistake that they can’t seem to ignore. Rose’s red curls in the poster have drawn attention and a flurry of comments.
