Actor Jack Kesy, known for his appearances in DC’s Deadpool 2 as Black Tom, will headline Millennium Media’s Hellboy film reboot The Crooked Man, according to entertainment magazine Deadline.

The film will be directed by Crank and Mom and Dad helmer Brian Taylor from a script penned by Hellboy comic book creator Mike Mignola and Chris Golden.

The Crooked Man will reportedly see Hellboy stranded in rural Appalachia with a rookie BPRD agent in the 1950s. They discover a small community haunted by witches, led by a local devil with a troubling connection to Hellboy’s past.

Apart from his role in Deadpool 2, Kesy has appeared in films such as 12 Strong and Baywatch as well as in shows like Claws and The Strain.

The Crooked Man will be the first film in Millennium’s development slate with German film and TV distributor Telepool, owned by Will and Jada Pinkett Smith.

The first Hellboy film based on the Dark Horse Comics was directed by Guillermo del Toro in 2004. Ron Perlman played the titular character in the film. The director-actor duo returned in 2008 for its sequel Hellboy II: The Golden Army.

In 2019, director Neil Marshall rebooted the film franchise with Hellboy featuring Stranger Things star David Harbour in the lead role. Kesy will be the third actor to play the antihero in a live-action film.

Kesy most recently played Sgt. Josh Kirk in the film The Outpost, opposite Orlando Bloom and Scott Eastwood, and also featured as Thunder in Tom Clancy’s Amazon feature film Without Remorse alongside Michael B. Jordan. He will next be seen in Jordan Gertner’s Sheroes and David Fincher’s neo-noir action thriller film The Killer.
