Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight, the third series in the animated Kung Fu Panda franchise, is set for a July 14 release on Netflix, the OTT platform has announced.
The Dragon Knight is the ninth spin-off of the original 2008 film, following the main trilogy, four short films, a holiday special, and two more TV shows.
Netflix dropped the trailer of Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight on social media platforms on June 16.
This revelation follows Netflix's Geeked Week celebration, during which the streaming giants revealed new details on their other animated projects such as Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Skull Island, and The Cuphead Show.
The titular character from the Kung Fu Panda films is voiced by Jack Black again. This is the first time that he is rendering his voice to Po in a television series. Black first voiced Po in the 2008 film Kung Fu Panda, then returned in 2011 and 2016 for Kung Fu Panda 2 and 3 respectively. Rita Ora has voiced Wandering Blade.
The two-minutes-26-second long trailer focuses on Po and fellow warrior Wandering Blade, who embark on an adventure to save the world from annihilation at the hands of a mysterious pair of weasels. The trailer depicts the show's heroic duo's clash of personalities, as the lighthearted Po and the severe, no-nonsense Wandering Blade must learn to work together in order to survive.

The series brings back several actors who have previously rendered their voice for the animated characters in the series and also adds a few new ones. James Hong has provided his voice for Mr. Ping, Chris Geere for Klaus Dumont, Della Saba for Veruca Dumont, Rahnuma Panthaky for Rukhmini, Ed Weeks for Colin and Amy Hill for Pei Pei.
In this 11-episode series, Po is forced to leave his home when a mysterious pair of weasels set their sights on collection of four powerful weapons, forcing him to embark on a globe-trotting journey for forgiveness and justice, which finds him partnered with a no-nonsense English knight dubbed Wandering Blade.
Together, these two warriors embark on an epic quest to find the magical weapons first and save the world from annihilation, and they might even learn a thing or two along the way.
Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight comes from executive producers Peter Hastings and Shaunt Nigoghossian. Co-executive producers of the series are Chris Amick and Ben Mekler for DreamWorks Animation studio.
