Ishaa Saha and Priyanka Sarkar are set to team up for Rohan Sen’s upcoming directorial venture Nayika, slated for a Durga Puja release this year, the makers announced on Sunday.
“Debipokkhe ebar aschhe dui nayikar golpo!! Presenting the announcement teaser of #Nayika, featuring Me and Ishaa Saha, directed by #RohanSen. Releasing this Puja 2024,” Priyanka Sarkar wrote on her Facebook page alongside a two-minute announcement teaser of the upcoming film.
The announcement teaser shows Ishaa in the avatar of an established actress, while Priyanka portrays a homemaker. Ishaa tells the latter that she is planning to make a movie with two heroines and no heroes, and that the second heroine will be Priyanka. Initially apprehensive, Priyanka slowly warms up to the idea.
The video ends with Priyanka asking Ishaa what the title of the film would be, and the title logo of Nayika appears on screen as both the actresses look at the camera.
Produced by Kichukhan Entertainment and Frame Per Second Entertainment, Nayika is the fourth feature film to be directed by Rohan Sen. He has previously directed Aparajitaa (2022), Subho Bijaya (2022) and Pakdondi (2023).
Nayika will be competing at the box office against Srijit Mukherji’s Tekka featuring Dev, Swastika Mukherjee, Rukmini Maitra and Tota Roy Choudhury. Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy’s Bohurupi starring Abir Chatterjee, Ritabhari Chakraborty and Koushani Mukherjee will also be releasing during Durga Puja this year.
