Lindsay Lohan’s Madeline wonders what she really wants from life when her dream of marrying the love of her life Paul Kennedy (Alexander Vlahos) miraculously comes true in the official trailer of Netflix’s upcoming romantic comedy Irish Wish, dropped by the makers on Tuesday.
The two-minute-thirty-four-second-long trailer begins with Madeline meeting a dashing wedding photographer, James Thomas (Ed Speleers), while she is travelling to Ireland to attend her best friend’s wedding.
The groom Paul is a successful entrepreneur. It is soon revealed that Madeline has always had feelings for Paul. Speaking to her mother on phone, Madeline says, “I can't help but think things would be different if I’d told Paul how I felt.” Her mother urges her to speak up for herself, but Madeline only makes a spontaneous wish. Next, she wakes up in bed with Paul, realising that she has miraculously swapped places with his fiancée Emma Taylor (Elizabeth Tan).
As the wedding arrangements proceed with Madeline as the bride-to-be, she soon realises that Paul is not the man she thought he was. For the multimillionaire, even his marriage is a publicity stunt. Meanwhile Madeline crosses paths with James time and again and is left wondering, “I'm not sure this is supposed to be my life.” The trailer concludes with Madeline opening her eyes, both literally and symbolically, as though she were awakening from a dream.
Unfolding to the tunes of the film's title track, the trailer also promises some idyllic Irish vistas.
Helmed by Falling for Christmas director Janeen Damian from a script by Kirsten Hansen, Irish Wish also features Ayesha Curry and Jane Seymour in key roles.
With a storyline reminiscent of other Lindsay Lohan movies like Freaky Friday (2003) and Just My Luck (2006), Irish Wish is slated to premiere on Netflix on March 15.
