Indian actors Shefali Shah, Jim Sarbh and Vir Das attended the 2023 International Emmy Awards cocktail party on Friday night at New York following their nominations for the 2023 International Emmy Awards.
The party was hosted by the Norwegian Consulate General in New York with the Norwegian Film Institute and Norwegian Film Commission.
Shefali has been nominated in the Best Performance by an Actress category for her portrayal of a senior police officer in the Netflix crime-drama series Delhi Crime 2. Talking about her nomination, the 50-year-old actress said it felt amazing to be present at the prestigious event. “It was amazing. It was an honour to be there,” she added.
Jim, who secured his nomination in the Best Performance by an Actor category for his role in the 2022 SonyLIV web series Rocket Boys, also attended the event in black floral trench coat coupled with a black high-neck undershirt. The 36-year-old actor took to his Instagram stories and shared a picture of him all decked up for the event. “Opening cocktails,” he captioned his post.
Vir, who received his nomination in the Best Comedy category for his Netflix special Vir Das: Landing, talked about the importance of embracing culture through comedy. “I think there’s a unique vacancy for a global comedic voice out of India, and if an American comedy can take me over to Ohio or wherever it is that you grew up, why can’t I take it to Mumbai or Delhi. I don’t think it’s about Indian content or American content, it’s now about ‘Can you take me someplace new? Can you make me taste and feel new culture?’ he said at the event.
The 51st International Emmy Awards ceremony will be held in New York on November 20. At the upcoming ceremony on November 20, film producer Ekta Kapoor will also be presented with the Directorate Award for her “trailblazing career and impact on the Indian television landscape”.
