Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2024: 12th Fail bags best film, Kartik Aaryan wins best actor

Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 12th Fail clinched the best film award, while Kartik Aaryan was recognised as best actor for his performance in Chandu Champion at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2024. The festival also honoured Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies with the best film (critics’ choice) award.

Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki received the Equality in Cinema award while Telugu star Ram Charan was named ambassador for Indian art and culture at the festival. Music composer A.R. Rahman was awarded for excellence in cinema.

The IFFM 2024 began on August 15 and will continue till August 25. The festival aims to celebrate the diversity of Indian cinema.

Best Actor: Kartik Aaryan for Chandu Champion

Best Director Critics’ Choice: Dominic Sangma for Rapture

Best Performer Critics’ Choice: Vikrant Massey for 12th Fail

Best Web Series: Kohhra

Best Actress (Series): Nimisha Sajayan for Poacher

Best Actor (Series): Arjun Mathur for Made in Heaven Season 2

Equality in Cinema: Dunki

Best Film from the Subcontinent: The Red Suitcase

People’s Choice: Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani

Excellence in Cinema: AR Rahman

Ambassador for Indian Art and Culture: Ram Charan
