Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 12th Fail clinched the best film award, while Kartik Aaryan was recognised as best actor for his performance in Chandu Champion at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2024. The festival also honoured Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies with the best film (critics’ choice) award.
Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki received the Equality in Cinema award while Telugu star Ram Charan was named ambassador for Indian art and culture at the festival. Music composer A.R. Rahman was awarded for excellence in cinema.
The IFFM 2024 began on August 15 and will continue till August 25. The festival aims to celebrate the diversity of Indian cinema.
