Kamal Haasan returns as freedom fighter-turned-anti-corruption crusader Senapathy almost 28 years after his 1996 movie Indian in the recently dropped trailer of the film’s sequel Indian 2, also featuring Siddharth and Rakul Preet Singh.

“SENAPATHY is back in style! The much-awaited #Indian2 Trailer is OUT NOW, packed with breathtaking action and visuals that will keep you hooked. ,” the official handle of Lyca Productions, the producers of the film, wrote on social media while sharing the video.

The two-minute-37-second long trailer begins with a monologue by Siddharth’s character, who expresses frustration about the corrupt system in India. He addresses societal issues such as unemployment, corruption, and underdevelopment. Parallely, the viewers get a glimpse of Kamal Haasan’s character Senapathy, who returns to save society. Senapathy adopts various disguises throughout the trailer just like he did in the original film.

The trailer ends with Senapathy declaring a “ second war of independence”.

Directed by Shankar, Indian 2 also stars Kajal Aggarwal, SJ Surya, Gulshan Grover and Piyush Mishra. It is set to release worldwide on July 12 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
