“The celebration will honour the finest achievements from the LGBTQ+ entertainment community, both in front of and behind the camera, as well as showcase emerging and established talent,” read a statement on the official website of the award show.

Abe Sylvia, Carl Clemons-Hopkins, Fellow Travelers producers Ron Nyswaner, Matt Bomer, Daniel Minahan, and Robbie Rogers are also among the honourees. Fernando Carsa, Henry R. Muñoz III, Kristen Kish, Luke Gilford, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, Oliver Hermanus and Shakina will also receive the award. Reality shows like RuPaul's Drag Race and its follow-up We're Here have been selected for the award.

Previously, the Critics Choice Association came up with three other additions to the award ceremony for Latino cinema and television, Asian-Pacific cinema and television as well as Black cinema and television.

“We are thrilled to welcome actor and comedian Sherry Cola as our HOST for the very first Critics Choice Celebration of LGBTQ+ Cinema and Television,” the awards show wrote, announcing Sherry Cola as the host for the ceremony. “Sherry Cola is a fierce advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and a barrier breaker as a queer Chinese American immigrant in film, television, and comedy,” they added.

While Star Trek actor George Takei will be honoured with the Social Justice Award for his “tireless fight for LGBTQ+ rights”, Only Murders in the Building actor Nathan Lane is set to receive the Career Achievement Award for his “work in an impressive range of projects”.

Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, on the other hand, will be awarded the Vanguard award for her work in the Apple TV+ series Loot.

The team of RuPaul’s Emmy Award-winning reality competition series Drag Race is set to bag the Trailblazer award. Producers of the Showtime drama series Fellow Travellers — Ron Nyswaner, Matt Bomer, Daniel Minahan, and Robbie Rogers — will clinch the Producer award at the ceremony.

Carl Clemons-Hopkins will be awarded the Supporting Performance Award for Television (Series) for playing the role of Marcus in the Max Original show Hacks. The Breakthrough Performance Award for Television (Series) will go to Chris Perfetti for his role as Jacob Hill in Abbott Elementary.

“I am extremely proud to be able to announce this inaugural event showcasing the best performances from the LGBTQ+ community in film and television,” said Critics Choice Association CEO, Joey Berlin. “A significant number of the CCA’s membership identifies as LGBTQ+, so this Celebration is extremely meaningful to our organisation,” he added.

The event will take place at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles, CA. Following the event, the show will stream on HereTV, an American television network for LGBT audiences.
