Shah Rukh Khan touched filmmaker Mani Ratnam’s feet and hugged A.R. Rahman as they presented the Best Actor Award to the Bollywood star for his 2023 blockbuster Jawan at IIFA 2024 in Abu Dhabi on Sunday, shows a video shared by the official X page of the awards ceremony.
“The King Khan, Shah Rukh Khan wins the NEXA IIFA Award 2024 for Performance in Leading Role (Male) for Jawan,” reads the caption of the video shared by the organisers, which is doing the rounds on social media.
Shah Rukh was nominated in the Best Actor category alongside Vikrant Massey for 12th Fail, Ranbir Kapoor for Animal, Ranveer Singh for Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, Vicky Kaushal for Sam Bahadur and Sunny Deol for Gadar 2.
Rani Mukerji took home the Best Actress award for Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway. Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal bagged the award for Best Film. Animal also received two other big awards — Best Supporting Actor (Male) presented to Anil Kapoor and Best Performance in a Negative Role to Bobby Deol. Vidhu Vinod Chopra was named the Best Director for 12th Fail, starring Vikrant Massey and Medha Shankr.
Apart from receiving his award, Shah Rukh also hosted this year’s awards ceremony alongside Vicky Kaushal and Karan Johar. Both Shah Rukh and Vicky, who appeared together in 2023’s Dunki, matched steps to songs like Oo Antava and Tauba Tauba. Later, they were Joined by Karan on the stage and danced to Jhoome Jo Pathaan, the title track of Shah Rukh’s 2023 film Pathaan.
