ICC on Wednesday dropped its official 2023 ODI World Cup anthem Dil Jashn Bole, which features a suit-and-hat-clad Ranveer Singh explaining what it takes to be a cricket fan as he dances aboard a colourful train to Pritam’s music.

The three-minute-22-second-long video begins with the actor’s dramatic entry in the One-Day Express, a train full of cricket fans, where he comes across a boy who is not interested in the sport.

“What does it take to be a fan?” the boy asks. Ranveer quickly takes out a megaphone and replies, “All it takes is one day, kyun ki yeh ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup hai boss! (because this is ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, boss!).”

The anthem is sung by seven singers — Pritam, Nakash Aziz, Sreerama Chandra, Amit Mishra, Jonita Gandhi, AKASA, Charan. The lyrics are written by Shloke Lal and Saaveri Verma. Pritam makes an appearance in the video with an electric guitar. Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal’s wife Dhanashree Verma also makes an appearance in the video.

Ranveer’s dance moves that look similar to balling and batting actions add to the anticipation for the sporting event. The highlight of the video, however, is how cricket fans of various participating nations unite for the World Cup and dance along to the rhythm. It ends with the boy who was disinterested in cricket turning into a fan and joining in the celebrations.

The 2023 ODI World Cup is returning to India after 12 years, with India as the sole host for the first time. The tournament will begin on October 5, with England taking on New Zealand in the opening match. The final will be held on November 19 at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium.
