Ryan Reynolds has unveiled a sneak peek of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine from the upcoming film Deadpool 3, hinting that the actor will sport the iconic yellow-and-blue Wolverine costume from the comics in the movie — for the first time since he started playing the clawed mutant back in 2000.

Taking to his Instagram story, Reynolds shared a photo showcasing Hugh's Wolverine and his own Deadpool striking a pose together. "Don't blink," Reynolds playfully wrote in the caption.

The official Twitter handle of the movie also posted the photo on the microblogging platform. “Now in Hugh Res,” they wrote in the caption.

While Jackman has portrayed Wolverine in numerous X-Men movies, he never wore the character's iconic yellow-and-blue costume. Standing beside Wolverine, Reynolds appears as Wade Wilson aka Deadpool in his signature red-and-black superhero outfit, confirming that there will be no costume changes for the lead character in the third installment.

Jackman’s last screen appearance as Wolverine was in the movie Logan, where the iconic mutant-superhero breathed his last. Wolverine’s inclusion in the Deadpool franchise thus created confusion among fans regarding the timelines of events. Last year, Reynolds and Jackman appeared in a video explaining how Wolverine is still alive in Deadpool 3, despite his death in the movie Logan.

They revealed that the third Deadpool film will be set in the present day, while the events in Logan take place in 2029. This revelation indicates that Wolverine is very much alive and kicking in the upcoming Deadpool adventure.

Deadpool 3 is scheduled to hit theaters on September 6, 2024, with Shawn Levy helming the film. Levy has previously collaborated with both Reynolds (in The Adam Project) and Jackman (in Real Steel).
