The latest trailer for House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 6 was unveiled by the makers on Monday, providing a glimpse of the unclaimed dragons who will play an important role in the standoff between the Blacks and the Greens for the claim to the Iron Throne.
The one-minute-12-second trailer for the upcoming teases Jace (Harry Collett) and Rhaenyra’s (Emma D’Arcy) attempt to recruit individuals with Valyrian blood to bond with the unclaimed dragons on Dragonstone. Their primary target is Vermithor, whose power could be pivotal in the conflict.
On the other hand, Daemon (Matt Smith) continues his independent campaign in the Riverlands, potentially amassing an army that could rival those of Criston (Fabien Frankel) and Aemond (Ewan Mitchell). However, it remains uncertain whether Daemon’s growing forces are meant to support Rhaenyra or serve his own ambitions.
Aemond’s decision to close the gates at King’s Landing sparks discontent among the subjects, leading to riots in the city with Alicent (Olivia Cooke) caught in the crossfires.
The initial episodes of Season 2 gradually built tension between the Blacks and the Greens, starting with the murder of a young prince in the first episode. The conflict reached a boiling point in Episode 4 with the Battle of Rook’s Rest, a spectacular aerial clash where Aemond and his dragon Vhagar killed Rhaenys (Eve Best) and her dragon Meleys and left Aegon (Tom Glynn-Carney) and Sunfyre critically injured.
Episode 5 focused on the aftermath of the Battle of Rook’s Rest. The Greens displayed Meleys’ decapitated head in King’s Landing, but it is seen as a bad omen by the populace. Despite being alive, Aegon is seen to be in a dire state. The small council predominantly agreed that Aemond, a skilled dragon rider, should take the throne temporarily.
The episode also delves into the political intrigues following the battle, with Daemon authorising the Blackwoods to launch a brutal campaign against the Brackens in the Riverlands as a coercive measure. Concurrently, Aemond’s immediate action is to close the gates of King’s Landing, potentially sparking unrest among the people.
