Episode 4 of House Of The Dragon Season 2, The Red Dragon and the Gold, has emerged as the highest-rated episode of the fantasy drama series on IMDb, securing 9.7 stars out of 10.
The Red Dragon and the Gold marks the beginning of the epic war between Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen’s (Emma D’Arcy) Black council and King Aegon’s (Tom Glynn-Carney) Green council. The IMDb rating for the episode has surpassed that of Season 1 Episode 8, which had received 9.3 stars out of 10 on the online database.
Rhaenyra the Cruel, Episode 2 of Season 2, emerged as the second highest-rated episode of the current season of House Of The Dragon with 8.4 stars out of 10. Episode 3, however, received the lowest rating of the season with 7.8 stars on IMDb. The inaugural episode of Season 2 earned 8.3 stars out of 10 on the online database.
Season 2 of the fantasy drama series began with Rhaenyra sending out missives to the other Houses after being deposed by Queen Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke), who crowns Aegon II as the King of the Seven Kingdoms. This marks the onset of the Targaryen civil war between Rhaenyra and her half-brother.
Based on George R.R. Martin’s novella The Princess and the Queen, the second season of House of the Dragon takes place 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones.
House of the Dragon Season 1, which ended way back in October 2022, followed Rhaenyra in her fight to be named the chosen heir of King Viserys I (Paddy Considine). After Viserys I’s death, the family split into two factions — one led by Viserys’s wife Alicent and her son Aegon; the other supporting Viserys’s daughter Rhaenyra and her husband Daemon (Matt Smith). This laid the groundwork for a devastating war of succession known as the Dance of the Dragons.
The first season of the show premiered on streaming platform Max on August 21, 2022. The second season premiered on the streamer on June 16 this year. Indian viewers can watch the show on JioCinema with a premium subscription.
