Rami Malek, basking in his award-winning glory, wanted to catch Nicole Kidman's attention on the Golden Globes stage, but the actress just wanted to break free.
In a video, the Bohemian Rhapsody star was seen moving to greet Kidman, who had presented the Best Picture – Drama to the film's cast and crew. But Kidman, unaware of Malek's intentions, turned her back, leaving the actor standing awkwardly behind her.
The 37-year-old actor was reminded of the incident on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and he joked that it will haunt him for the rest of his life.
'I had not seen that,' Malek said after Jimmy Kimmel played the video twice to further embarrass the actor.
'I've known her for many years, despite what it may seem in that video, so I thought I could easily go up and say hi but in a moment like that... it was very awkward. I have a feel this is probably haunting me on the Internet now,' he added.
Malek is probably right, because the video has gone viral.
Kidman might have given him the royal snub, but her husband Keith Urban made up for it for showering praise for his portrayal of Queen frontman Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody. 'It's alright, I got love from Keith that night. He's a massive Queen fan,' he said.
At the Golden Globes 2019, Malek won the Best Actor - Drama for Bohemian Rhapsody. He has also been nominated in the best actor category at BAFTA.
