Having previously captivated audiences in India at the Japanese Film Festival and the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival 2023, Monster arrived in Indian theatres on February 9.

Monster premiered at the prestigious 76th Cannes Film Festival on May 17, 2023, where it won the Queer Palm and the Best Screenplay awards. The film revolves around fifth-grade student Minato Mugino (Sōya Kurokawa), who starts displaying behavioural changes, prompting his mother Saori Mugino (Sakura Andō) to search for answers. Her quest unravels the involvement of schoolteacher Michitoshi Hori (Eita Nagayama). What initially appears as a trivial altercation among schoolchildren swiftly escalates into a chaotic ordeal that draws the attention of the media. Minato’s bond with his classmate Yori Hoshikawa (Hinata Hiiragi) also comes under the radar.
