Sara Ali Khan and Ananya Panday — who we didn’t really know were friends — were the special guests on the Koffee with Karan couch on the third episode of Season 8. Our picks of the tete-a-tete, streaming on Disney+ Hotstar

Ananya ‘Coy’ Kapur!

Host Karan Johar cut to the chase, straightaway asking Ananya Panday if she was seeing Aditya Roy Kapur. Ananya acted surprisingly coy, but her smile said it all, even as she mouthed the predictable, oft-repeated line: “We are really good friends!”

ARK was the proverbial elephant in the room that Karan wanted to address throughout the episode. The moment of reckoning arrived, of course, in the rapid fire round. When asked what Ananya had that she didn’t, Sara Ali Khan shot back with a cheek: ‘A night manager!’ Reference to the context: Aditya plays the title role in the thriller series The Night Manager. That prompted a visibly-in-love Ananya to turn fifty shades of red and say: “I am feeling very Ananya ‘coy’ Kapur now”.

Love Breakups Zindagi

With the young ones on the couch (get rid of that monstrosity, please!) it was but imperative that Koffee with Karan would be a lot about their dating lives. Sara cleared the air and said that she had never dated cricketer Shubman Gill, even adding: “You have got the wrong Sara, guys”, alluding to Sara Tendulkar, who is rumoured to be seeing Shubman.

Karan also referred to Kartik Aryan as a “common ex” for both Sara and Ananya, with Sara getting a tad too philosophical (and perhaps, honest) and saying that she doesn’t believe in permanent equations and relationships in the film business.

That prompted Karan to reveal how he and Kareena Kapoor Khan didn’t speak to each other for a year-and-a-half after he cast Preity Zinta instead of her in Kal Ho Naa Ho. The two reconciled when KJo’s father, producer Yash Johar, was diagnosed with cancer.

Similarly, Karan had a fallout with Kajol a few years ago. They became friends after he sent her pictures of his new-born twins and then he landed up at her birthday bash.

When asked in the rapid fire round who Sara should date next, Ananya quipped: “There is no one left!” She also said that Sara could “harmlessly flirt even with a wall”.

Agony aunt to tipsy gal pals

Sara revealed that Ananya is the one who she turns to for advice, particularly when it comes to relationships. She also said that Ananya once “threatened” her not to date a guy because she herself was interested in him. Who could that be, we wonder!

Before the show started, by way of introduction, Karan said that Sara and Ananya fall into the category of friends who would say: “Let me do your winged eyeliner while we vibe at 2am”. The two admitted that they talk and work out together, with Ananya revealing that they even wandered drunk to Mumbai’s Chowpatty Beach at 3am once. Karan revealed that Sara is a “lightweight”. “Two drinks and she will be flying!” he chuckled.

Who is Orry?

Orry aka Orhan Awatramani, the arm candy of the stars, is everywhere, and for the sake of our general knowledge, Karan asked the girls who Orry really was. As expected, there was no real answer because no one really knows! “He’s funny, he is good with captions... I call him for my Instagram captions,” said Ananya. Sara cheekily quipped: “He does a lot. He works on himself,” alluding to the viral video featuring Orry that has been doing the rounds.
