Captain America: The First Avenger
About: Set in 1942, we see the journey of Steve Rogers as he is drafted in the US Army. Enhanced to the peak of human perfection by an experimental serum, he learns how to use his new-found powers to fight the Axis powers and the Hydra in the Second World War and recovers the Tesseract or Space Stone, one of the six Infinity Stones.
Reason to watch: It introduces us to the Space Stone and also establishes why Captain America is highly respected among the Avengers, establishing him as a long-term leader.

About: It takes us to the unseen period of the MCU. We follow the journey of Carol Danvers, a former US Air Force pilot, who goes on to become one of the universe’s most powerful superheroes after being caught in the midst of an intergalactic battle.
Reason to watch: It is not just her strength but also her knowledge of the forces operating in the universe that will make her very crucial to the Avengers’s final fight against Thanos. According to Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo, Captain Marvel will lead the future generation of the Avengers.

Reason to watch: The film that kicked off one of the most iconic superhero franchises in history is a must-watch before Endgame. While not much will be revisited from this movie, it establishes Tony Stark as one of the most important Avengers.

The Avengers
About: This film features the coming together of iconic Marvel superheroes — Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow — that we had all had been waiting for. They fought as a team to stop Loki and his alien army from enslaving humanity.
Reason to watch: Not only was this movie the culmination of the previous MCU films, it also showed us what to expect in the future Marvel films — stronger enemies and more action. Not to forget that this was the first movie in the MCU where the infamous Mad Titan, Thanos, made his appearance in one of the end credit scenes.

Reason to watch: This was the first movie that showed us how the six Infinity Stones came into existence and how powerful they really are. The movie reveals Thanos’s relationship with his adopted daughters Gamora and Nebula, and their hatred towards him.

Avengers: Age Of Ultron
About: After Tony Stark completes his Ultron defense program using the artificial intelligence he had found in a Hydra bunker in Sokovia, he soon finds that the Ultron is unexpectedly sentient and will kill the Avengers. The Avengers assemble once again to save earth from this impending crisis.
Reason to watch: There’s an outcry that Avengers have caused a lot of damage to human life in their fight with Ultron. The Sokovia Accord, which brought the Avengers under the control of the government, came into force. This divides the Avengers and sets off the events for Captain America: Civil War.

About: A deep rift developed in the team of superheroes, with them being divided as those who honoured the Sokovia Accords, led by Iron Man, and those who did not, led by Captain America. This resulted in a hero-versus-hero battle.
Reason to watch: With the S.H.I.E.L.D. dissolved previously and now the Avengers broken up, the world lacks a powerful force to protect it from the cosmic threats. The separation of the Avengers in the film sets the tone for the upcoming films in MCU, right up to Endgame.

Thor: Ragnarok
About: Set two years after the Battle of Sokovia, Thor is imprisoned and trapped on the alien planet Sakaar by Surtur. Thor tries to escape just in time to save Asgard from Hela, the goddess of death, and Ragnarok.
Reason to watch: We find that Odin’s death was what Thanos was waiting for before attacking earth. This film also sees the destruction of Mjolnir, the hammer of Thor, and the introduction of the Stormbreaker, his new weapon. Moreover, Thor meets Hulk during his time in Sakaar which his explains absence in Captain America: Civil War.

Avengers: Infinity War
About: The fractured Avengers partially reunite and fight Thanos, who’s out to collect the six Infinity Stones and eradicate half the universe. A host of Avengers have also fallen prey to Thanos’s finger snap.
Reason to watch: It took a snap that wiped out half the universe to finally bring all the Avengers together. Seeing the Avengers assemble once again to fight off a menace reminds us of the first Avengers movie, and since Endgame will begin from right where Infinity War ends, it makes perfect sense to watch it before Endgame.

Ant-Man and The Wasp
About: The film is a direct sequel to 2015’s Ant-Man and follows the events of Captain America: Civil War. Scott Lang is under house arrest after his involvement in the violations of the Sokovia Accords. He dons the Ant-Man suit to rescue Janet Van Dyne from the Quantum Realm, along with the Wasp. This mission soon leads to this dynamic duo fighting an epic battle against a powerful new enemy, The Ghost.
Reason to watch: This movie is a direct link between Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: End Game and hints how Quantum Realm will play an important role in saving the earth. Not to forget the ‘Time Vortex’ mentioned in the end credits scene which will probably play a significant role in Endgame, as suggested by the trailers.
