Actor Henry Cavill shared his look as Cavillrine from Deadpool & Wolverine on Instagram on Monday.
The Hollywood star made a brief-yet-memorable appearance in the Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman-starrer MCU movie, making fans ecstatic with his role since the film’s release on July 26.
“To be safe, I shaved the moustache off for this one. Just the moustache,” Cavill captioned the photo in what appears to be a playful jab at DC where he had portrayed Superman with a clean-shaven look.
The actor famously couldn’t shave off his moustache for the 2017 Justice League reshoots because he was simultaneously filming for Mission: Impossible – Fallout. As a result, the original cut of the film featured Cavill with a CGI upper lip, which was widely criticised online.
In Deadpool & Wolverine, Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool embarks on a journey through various universes to find a Wolverine who can assist in saving the sacred timeline. On his way, he encounters various variants of Logan, with Cavillrine being one of them. Deadpool also makes a quip about how Marvel will treat Henry better than “the studio down the street” in an apparent dig at DC.
Well-known for his role as Superman in Man of Steel, Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, Cavill also had a cameo in Black Adam. Although Cavill was slated to reprise his role as Superman, James Gunn’s reboot of the DC Universe has put an end to those plans. David Corenswet has replaced Cavill in Gunn’s new superman movie.
There is no official confirmation yet on whether Cavill will continue in the MCU, but this appearance could potentially pave the way for future roles.
