Henry Cavill’s charismatic spy leads a UK covert organisation formed during World War II to hunt Nazis using “ungentlemanly” fighting techniques in the trailer of Guy Ritchie’s spy comedy The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare.

Based on recently declassified files of the British War Department, the spy comedy is Ritchie’s second collaboration with the Man of Steel actor. They previously collaborated on the 2015 film The Man from U.N.C.L.E.

The two-minute-five-second-long trailer, dropped by Lionsgate Movies on Tuesday, shows us a “motley crew of rogues and mavericks” formed by UK prime minister Winston Churchill for a daring mission during World War II. It introduces us to Cavill’s Gus March-Phillips, a charismatic criminal who has been released from prison for leading the mission.

As described by Churchill, Cavill’s Gus is a “reckless” man who embarks on a dangerous mission and does not always obey orders when asked to abort. He puts together a team of six and goes on an “unsanctioned” and “unauthorised” mission to neutralise the German U-boats in the North Atlantic.

“Ultimately their audacious approach changed the course of the war and laid the foundation for the British SAS and modern Black Ops warfare,” the official description of the film mentions.

Apart from Cavill, The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare also features Eiza González, Alan Ritchson, Alex Pettyfer, Hero Fiennes Tiffin, Babs Olusanmokun, Henrique Zaga, Til Schweiger, with Henry Golding, and Cary Elwes.

Backed by the producers of Top Gun: Maverick, Pirates of the Caribbean and National Treasure, The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare will hit theatres on April 19. Before that, Caville will be seen in the spy thriller Argylle alongside Dua Lipa, slated to release on February 2.
