Actress Hema Malini recently had a “pleasant, surprise meeting” with lyricist Gulzar on a flight to Delhi, she said on Tuesday, sharing photos with the poet-lyricist she worked with on projects like like Meera (1979), Khushboo (1975) and Kinara (1977).
In an accompanying note, Hema revealed that they took a trip down memory lane, recalling the “wonderful movies” they had made together.
“Had such a pleasant, surprise meeting on my flight to Delhi! My travel companion was Gulzar ji who I met after so many years. It was lovely catching up with him all those years plus recalling the wonderful movies we had made together - Meera, Khushboo, Kinara etc. We had so much to talk about that we were still discussing when we landed in Delhi,” wrote Hema on Instagram, alongside a set of pictures with the 90-year-old lyricist-director-screenwriter.
A couple of pictures show Hema and Gulzar engrossed in conversation on the flight.
Netizens immediately flooded the post with comments praising the duo. “You both created some of the iconic films together. Legendary,” wrote one social media user.
On the work front, Hema’s last film appearance was in Ramesh Sippy’s 2020 romantic drama Shimla Mirchi, alongside Rajkummar Rao and Rakul Preet Singh.
Earlier this year, veteran lyricist Gulzar was honoured with the Jnanpith, India's highest literary award. He had previously received the Sahitya Akademi Award for Urdu in 2002, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2013, the Academy Award for best original song in 2008, the Padma Bhushan in 2004, and five National Film Awards.
