The latest trailer of Netflix’s LGBTQ-inclusive teen series Heartstopper Season 3, dropped by the streamer on Tuesday, teases a cameo by fan-favourite Bridgerton star Jonathan Bailey as Jack Maddox.
The two-minute-43-second-long trailer follows Kit Connor's Nick Nelson and Joe Locke's Charlie Spring while they explore intimacy. It begins with Nick and Charlie enjoying a day at the beach. Set to Griff’s Vertigo, the following scenes show them and their friends navigating the challenges of teenage romance.
Isaac (Tobie Donovan) awkwardly third-wheels Tao (William Gao) and Elle (Yasmin Finney) during a movie night, while Elle opens up to Tao about her gender dysphoria. Nick starts noticing Charlie’s eating disorder, while Tara Jones (Corinna Brown) expresses her anxiety about the upcoming school year.
Tori (Jenny Walser) strives to be a more supportive sister to Charlie, while his therapist Geoff (Eddie Marsan) discusses the deeper meaning of intimacy.
Meanwhile, Nick gets relationship advice from Aunt Diane (Haley Atwell). “Sometimes, people need more support than one person can give,” she tells a tearful Nick over a montage of Charlie going away in a car.
The trailer ends with the two boyfriends meeting Bailey’s “really hot” author-influencer Maddox (Bailey), a musician turned scholar from Alice Oseman’s Heartstopper graphic novels, on which the Netflix series is based.
Season 3 of this teenage coming-out story will derive its main events from the fourth book in the series. “Season 2 ended with Nick beginning to understand the extent of Charlie’s mental health issues, and it’s this that will drive the story through Season 3,” Oseman said in a statement.
Apart from Bailey, Captain America: The First Avenger actress Hayley Atwell and Back to Black’s Eddie Marsan are also joining the cast of the upcoming instalment alongside returning cast members like Corinna Brown, Kizzy Edgell, Rhea Norwood, Bradley Riches and Bel Priestly.
All eight episodes of Heartstopper Season 3 will hit Netflix on October 3.
