Lady Gaga has announced the release of Harlequin, a new album tied to her role in Joker: Folie à Deux. The companion album, which features 13 tracks, will be available on all music-streaming platforms on September 27.
“Harlequin. September 27. A companion album to Joker: Folie à Deux,” Gaga wrote on Instagram alongside two photos. The first picture shows the singer standing under a shower with a lifejacket on, while the second features a milk packet lying on a shelf.
The pop icon had been teasing a mystery project for several days through a series of cryptic social media posts. These included phrases like I’m ready for my interview, Don’t tell me what to wear, No duct tape no mission, Moondust gets everywhere and Still not October.
Ahead of Harlequin’s release, Spotify revealed the full tracklist for the album, which includes song titles such as Good Morning, Get Happy (2024), Oh, When the Saints, World on a String, That’s Entertainment, Smile, The Joker, and Folie à Deux.
Lady Gaga will star opposite Joaquin Phoenix in the upcoming Joker sequel, portraying the iconic character Harley Quinn. Directed by Todd Phillips, the sequel to 2019’s Joker weaves musical elements into its dark narrative.
Joker 2 had its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival 2024 last month, attended by Lady Gaga, Phoenix and Phillips.
In addition to Harlequin, Lady Gaga is currently working on her seventh studio album, which is currently being referred to as LG7. While the album is slated for release in February next year, the first single is expected to drop sometime in October. Gaga recently released a single titled Die With a Smile with Bruno Mars.
