After the resounding success of Scam 1992 and Scam 2003, Hansal Mehta is back with the third instalment of the Scam series. Titled Scam 2010: The Subrata Roy Saga, the series delves into the controversial life of Sahara Group founder Subrata Roy, the filmmaker announced on Thursday.

Mehta, who will be returning as the director of the series this time, teased audiences with a short video announcing the upcoming season but kept the cast under wraps. Like the previous seasons, Scam 2010 will be streaming on SonyLIV.

The first season of the Scam franchise, titled Scam 1992, was based on Harshad Mehta’s share market scam. The show, which premiered in 2020, catapulted lead actor Pratik Gandhi to stardom. It was followed by Scam 2003, directed by Jai Mehta, chronicling the story of Abdul Karim Telgi’s stamp paper scam. Gagan Dev Riar played the titular role in the second season.

Subrata Roy, the founder of Sahara conglomerate, faced allegations of investor fraud, resulting in his arrest in 2014 over unpaid dues over Rs 10,000 crore. After a prolonged legal battle, Roy passed away at the age of 75 in 2023.
