Spookiness comes in various forms. Some in the form of a vicious killer, some as unexplained phenomena, some as vengeful spirits, some ritualistic and some ancient fables. Netflix has a wide variety of spooky shows that you can watch on All Hallows Eve. So choose one and take cover under the blanket if you are done with all the weekend Halloween fun.

When Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor) takes the helm of a horror project, you can close your eyes and bet it will be worth your while. After the incredible Midnight Mass last year, which is set on a small island about a cultish religious sect, Flanagan sets his new 10-episode horror show in a hospice and follows a group of eight terminally ill teenagers who meet everyday at midnight to share scary stories. They make a pact that the first to die would be responsible for communicating from beyond the grave. The first episode of the show made it to the Guinness Book of World Records for the maximum number of scripted jump scares in one episode of a television show — the number is 21.

It might have got discontinued after the first season, but the live action version of the podcast of the same name is a great watch nonetheless. The show follows talented archivist Dan Turner, who is skilled at restoring old tapes and video footage, as he comes across videotapes of a missing filmmaker, Melody. Dan discovers a cult that Melody was investigating and a connection he wasn’t expecting. This show is a good addition to Netflix’s horror repertoire.

Devil in Ohio

Emily Deschanel of Bones leads this show that follows a psychiatrist who tries to treat a girl who has escaped from a cult. Not all horror has to come from the supernatural, sometimes it’s human nature that can be terrifying. Devil in Ohio is a lesson in the power of manipulation and the extent to which a person can go to take what they think is their due.

Brand New Cherry Flavor

Okay, so this came out a year ago and is definitely not for everyone because it is seriously weird, beyond gross and very wild but incredibly stylish. Set in 1990s neon-lit Los Angeles, the mini-series follows aspiring filmmaker Lisa Nova who heads to Hollywood to get her film made. When her film gets stolen by a producer, she goes to a witch to get revenge and what follows is a mind-bending ride of puked up kittens (there is some animal harming so be warned), zombies, bodily harm, entrails and much more you cannot even conceive in a sane mind.

Cabinet of Curiosities

You know you are in for a treat when Guillermo Del Toro helms a horror anthology and gets eight different directors to make each episode. If you want all your horror needs met in one evening, Cabinet of Curiosities is the perfect watch. From grand to grotesque and psychological to spiritual, the show caters to all kinds of horror buffs. Every filmmaker brings to their episode a different style. We have our own favourite episode, but we’ll let you choose your own.
