Abandoned by his politician mother, Mahesh Babu’s Ramana grows up to be a reckless and violent adult who beats up other rowdies for fun in the trailer of Trivikram’s upcoming film Guntur Kaaram, dropped by the makers on Sunday.

The two-minute-47-second-long video shows Mahesh’s Ramana sharing a complicated relationship with his politician mother (Ramya Krishnan), who had abandoned him as a child. We get to see Mahesh’s massy bidi-smoking avatar — the man from Guntur effortlessly uses other rowdies for his punching bag and delivers sharp dialogues. However, things take a turn when he falls for a girl (Sreeleela).

“My mother, who was supposed to beat me when I was small, now sends for me and slaps me in all dignity,” Mahesh says at the end of the trailer after he sees the shadow of his mother standing on a balcony. “Ramana, your life is a miracle, brother,” he tells himself, feeling depressed as his mother comes back into his life but not in the way he had expected.

Guntur Kaaram also stars Meenakshi Chaudhary, Jagapathi Babu, Easwari Rao and Prakash Raj. Thaman S has worked on the soundtrack for the film, while the cinematography is by Manoj Paramahamsa.

Previously, three tracks from the film were released in November and December last year — Dum Masala, Oh My Baby and Kurchi Madathapetti.

Produced by S. Radha Krishna, Guntur Kaaram is slated to release on January 12. It will clash with Teja Sajja’s Indian myth-inspired superhero film HanuMan at the box office as both movies will hit the theatres on the same day.
