Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 raked in almost Rs 9 crore nett in India on its Day 1 in India, emerging as the seventh-highest opening day grosser among Hollywood movies in the country in the post-pandemic era, highlight box office records.
The James Gunn-directed Marvel film, the final part of the GOTG trilogy, reported a seat occupancy of 25.78 per cent on its Day 1 in theatres in India.
Chris Pratt reprises his role as Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Sean Gunn, Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel also feature in the superhero film in key roles.
The six Hollywood films that had a better Day 1 collection in India in the post-pandemic era are James Cameron’s Avatar - The Way Of Water (Rs 39.87 crore nett). Spider-Man: No Way Home (Rs 32.67 crore nett), Doctor Strange: In Multiverse Of Madness (Rs 28.74 crore nett), Thor: Love And Thunder (Rs 18.48 crore nett), Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (Rs 11.93 crore nett) and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (Rs 9 crore nett).
Among the Indian releases this week, Sudipto Sen’s The Kerala Story had a decent start at the domestic box office, earning Rs 7.5 crore nett on the opening day.
Sudhir Mishra’s political thriller Afwaah, which had a limited release in theatres, collected Rs 25 lakh nett on Friday, as per Box Office India.
