Characters played by Niecy Nash-Betts and Courtney B. Vance set out on a journey to hunt down a killer in the trailer of Ryan Murphy’s upcoming horror show Grotesquerie.

Dropped by FX Networks on Thursday, the two-minute-and-37-second trailer opens with a monologue by Nash-Betts, who plays the character of Detective Lois Tryon. "Something hellish is here," she says, referring to a cunning and elusive killer whose case she’s been assigned to investigate.

As Detective Tryon begins unravelling the mystery behind the slaughter of an entire family, she is joined by Sister Megan (Micaela Diamond), a crime-investigating nun. As the investigation deepens, Tryon’s reliability is questioned and her drinking worsens. “This is the end of time,” she warns, saying, “The monster is out there.”

Grotesquerie features Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce, who is also the boyfriend of pop singer Taylor Swift. It also features Lesley Manville, Raven Goodwin and Nicholas Alexander Chavez in key roles.

Created by Ryan Murphy, Jon Robin Baitz, and Joe Baken, the 10-episode series also has them as executive producers, joined by Alexis Martin Woodall, Max Winkler, Nash-Betts, Courtney B. Vance, Peter Liguori, Nissa Diederich, Eric Kovtun, and Scott Robertson. Murphy, Winkler, Martin Woodall, and Elegance Bratton direct the series, which is produced by 20th Television.

Grotesquerie is set to premiere on FX on September 25 and will be available for streaming on Hulu the following day. The series will be later released on Disney+ for international fans, though the release date is yet to be announced.
