American singer-songwriter Beyonce has broken the record for most Grammy award wins of all time after collecting her 32nd trophy at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards on February 6.
The CUFF IT singer bagged four awards at this year’s ceremony and rewrote history as she went on to win the best dance/electronic album for Renaissance, overtaking Hungarian-British conductor George Solti’s record of 31 awards.
Beyonce got emotional when she received her award and thanked her parents and late uncle Johnny for their unflinching support. “I’d like to thank my beautiful husband, my beautiful three children who are at home watching,” she said, “I’d like to thank the queer community for your love and for inventing this genre.”
Taylor Swift was seen clapping and cheering for Beyonce when the latter collected her record-breaking award. The singer also won the best R&B song for CUFF IT, along with the best dance/electronic recording and best traditional R&B performance for Break My Soul.
With 88 career nominations, Beyonce also holds the record for the most number of Grammy Awards nominations — a feat she shares with her husband Jay Z. The Renaissance singer is already the most awarded female artist in Grammy’s history and had a total of nine nominations for the night.
