The monsterverse movie raked in Rs 39 crore nett over three days, crushing its competition Crew, which raked in Rs 29.5 crore nett domestically

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire dominated the Indian box office on its debut weekend, overshadowing Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tabu and Kriti Sanon’s Crew. While the fantasy adventure surged to an impressive Rs 39 crore nett, the heist comedy garnered Rs 29 crore nett in its opening weekend, as per data-tracking platform Sacnilk.

Kicking off its theatrical journey with a roar, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire amassed Rs 13.25 crore nett on its opening day. Despite a slight downturn in figures on Saturday, with earnings hovering around Rs 12.5 crore nett, the monsterverse movie experienced a resurrection on Easter Sunday, witnessing a surge in collections to Rs 13.25 crore nett. This propelled the film's overall collection to an impressive Rs 39 crore nett.

Directed by Adam Wingard, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire not only conquered the Indian market but also emerged as the top-grossing film in the United States over the weekend, amassing an estimated collection of USD 80 million. As per Box Office Mojo estimates, the sequel to Godzilla vs. Kong raked in USD 194 million worldwide in three days.

On the other hand, Rajesh A Krishnan’s Crew commenced its box office voyage with a decent haul of Rs 9.25 crore nett on Friday, buoyed by the Good Friday holiday. The film saw a marginal uptick in collections on Saturday, registering Rs 9.75 crore nett. Wrapping up the weekend, Crew garnered Rs 10.5 crore nett on Sunday, taking its total domestic collection to Rs 29.5 crore nett. Its global earnings stand at Rs 62.5 crore gross so far.
