Japanese film Godzilla Minus One will be screened in India as part of the Japanese Film Festival in New Delhi from September 28 to 29.
The festival, to be held at PVR INOX, Pacific Mall Tagore Garden, is being organised by The Japan Foundation in collaboration with Mela! Mela! Anime Japan!, catering to Indian anime and film enthusiasts.
Godzilla Minus One will be screened at 6.30pm on September 28 and 11.30am on September 29 at the festival. A special screening of the 1954 classic Godzilla will also be held to celebrate its 70th anniversary.
Directed by Takashi Yamazaki, Godzilla Minus One was released in Japanese theatres in November 2023 and received rave reviews. The film started streaming on Netflix on June 1, 2024, after a successful theatrical run that earned it an impressive USD 115 million worldwide.
Apart from Netflix, the monster movie is also available in a variety of languages including Japanese, English, Hindi, Italian, and German, on platforms like Amazon, Apple iTunes, Google Play and Microsoft.
Earlier this year, Godzilla Minus One went on to become the first Godzilla film in 70 years to win an Oscar. It took home the award for best visual effects, beating films like Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 at the 96th Academy Awards.
Set in the post-World War II era, Godzilla Minus One follows Koichi, a soldier haunted by his previous encounter with the colossal creature Godzilla. As a new threat looms over Tokyo, Koichi sees an opportunity to redeem himself for his past actions during the war.
