Team Robin’s Kitchen recently got together for the trailer launch of the film at Soul — The Sky Lounge. Starring Bonny Sengupta and Priyanka Sarkar, the film follows Robin and Niharika. Robin is a middle-class boy, keenly interested in cooking. He has been inspired by his mother’s recipes and dreams of becoming a chef and opening a restaurant. After a few years of struggle, he finally manages to open a cafe which he names Robin’s Kitchen. Niharika breezes into his life and they start working together. Eventually, they fall in love. The narrative takes a significant turn after that. The biggest nightmare of their life, Aritra, who is a political leader of that area, wants to take over the place for his own vested interest. And he tries to threaten Robin to vacate the place. Soon, Robin gets an opportunity to expand his restaurant business, all thanks to his mother’s special recipe. He moves out to another city for a few days for work. Niharika is left alone and Aritra with his followers ends up tormenting her in every possible way.

“The trailer launch had a lot of hype and anticipation and likewise the launch was jam-packed. We were overwhelmed with the response. The feedback has been very good so far. Fans are eagerly waiting to watch the film on the big screen. It’s always great to work with an old friend like Priyanka and she’s a fantastic actor. Sharing screen space with her is always enjoyable. Robin is an introvert, a typical middle-class guy who wants to make his mom’s dish famous. He opens a cafe called Robin’s Kitchen and tries to make it work viably. Niharika enters the narrative as a young lady who comes to work in this cafe. What happens after Niharika enters his life, is what we see unfolding in the film,” said Bonny.

“Niharika as a character has multiple layers and was rather challenging a character to essay. She has a perpetual struggle to open up or communicate. Be it in her workplace or in her relationships. She takes time to adjust and express herself according to situations. She also suffers from the pent-up remorse of losing her parents. All this has been woven in with empathy and rather sweetly in the narrative, by our director Bappa. There’s a lot of excitement amongst my friends and family and the expectations are rising from the positive trailer launch feedback. It was great fun to work with Bonny,” said Priyanka.

“The trailer has been well received by the audience. Romantic thrillers like this are quite rare in the industry, where love is the focal theme but it also explores the close relationship between a mother and her child. I believe that Bengali food enthusiasts will especially enjoy this type of film. So far, it’s been very satisfying for me to see that everyone is extremely excited about the trailer and that it has been viewed by many. Many audiences and friends alike have called me to say that they found the trailer very intriguing and are eagerly waiting to watch the movie, which releases on July 19. The movie primarily focuses on three characters: Niharika, Robin, and Aritra. The story is crafted in a rather personal way. Robin is a struggling young man who wants to start a new business based on his mother’s cooking, which he has loved since childhood. He had always dreamt of opening a restaurant. He eventually opens the restaurant and Niharika is one of the staff members who joins. A sweet romantic relationship develops between them. The challenges of running a restaurant become a significant part of the story,” said director Bappa.

“I have worked with Bonny earlier and I’ve always found a keen hunger in him to push the frontiers higher. He’s stepped out of his usual zone and essayed the pivotal character very effectively. Along with Priyanka who’s a very accomplished and talented artiste. Going by the fantastic response we have got from friends and the industry alike, the trailer has raised expectations significantly. Bappa is a new-generation director. He has delivered well and is a very committed young film-maker with strong roots in the theatre world. This is a film which will touch a deep emotional chord with the audiences. There are multiple elements of suspense, thrill and romance that will make it a worthwhile riveting watch,” said producer Mukesh Pandey.
