On July 27, the trailer of Birsa Dasgupta’s Byomkesh O Durgo Rahasya was revealed at ITC Royal Bengal. Present at the event were the leading star cast of the film, including Dev, Rukmini Maitra and Ambarish Bhattacharya. The trailer launch also saw the presence of director Srijit Mukherji, along with actors Anirban Bhattacharya and Sohini Sarkar.

This detective thriller is based on Saradindu Bandyopadhyay’s renowned Byomkesh novel. For the first time, Dev takes on the role of the legendary fictional detective, Byomkesh Bakshi, on the silver screen, while Rukmini Maitra essays the character of Satyabati, and Ambarish Bhattacharya portrays the role of Ajit. The plot of the film revolves around Byomkesh Bakshi and his trusted ally Ajit as they delve into the mysterious circumstances surrounding the untimely demise of Professor Ishan Chandra Majumder, believed to be a result of a snake bite. Their quest leads them to unravel the secrets of Ramkishore, a hidden treasure concealed within his ancestral hilltop fortress, as well as a series of unnatural deaths within the Singha family.

The cast left no stone unturned in creating a buzz with their stunning appearances. It was a visual treat to see the stars dressed in outfits that perfectly resonated with their on-screen characters, giving us a glimpse into the world of the August 11 movie.

Dev made a striking statement with his choice of attire. He was seen donning a stylish pink kurta, paired with an ethnic jacket adorned with intricate floral embroidery. The combination of the vibrant pink hue and the traditional embroidery added a touch of regality to his look. Dev’s outfit not only showcased his character’s charm and charisma but also highlighted his strong and confident personality. Rukmani wore a beautiful floral chiffon saree. Her flushed pink make-up complemented her outfit perfectly, giving the actress a radiant and fresh appearance. Her entire ensemble reflected her character’s soft and romantic persona, leaving us intrigued and excited to witness her journey on the big screen.

“It was a very exciting process to see oneself being presented in such a period and that too, as such an iconic character in literature that is Satyabati. To represent a character who is both lovable and enjoys a casual sense of intelligence, was key,” said Rukmini.
