Team Abar Proloy recently got together to celebrate the success of the Zee5 series at The Grid. Directed by Raj Chakraborty, this Bengali cop drama revives the beloved character of Animesh Dutta (played by Saswata Chatterjee), a special crime branch officer who is sent to the Sunderbans to hunt down a deadly mastermind who is running a widespread human trafficking racket.
His mission starts with an encounter with a gang of young hooligans ruling the islands on their bikes, carrying arms openly. As Animesh rescues a girl, Dugga, from their clutch and admits her to a hospital under the protection of the police, the scenario becomes hostile.

Abar Proloy follows Animesh Dutta as he unveils a forgotten tale of friendship, jealousy, passion, love, and revenge. The cop faces opposition from Kanu (played by Gaurav Chakraborty), the island’s godman Shambhu Babu (played by Ritwick Chakraborty), and his second-in-command Mohini Maa (played by Koushani Mukherjee).
“We are really happy with the success... we have been working on the series for more than a year. While making Abar Proloy, I wanted to cultivate awareness about the criminality of human trafficking that targets the innocent. Saswata Chatterjee’s marvellous embodiment of Animesh Dutta helped me create an essence of fearlessness instilled by a heroic cop with a calm and chill attitude. The entire cast and crew gave their heart and soul to bring alive individual characters and my vision for my first web series,” said Raj.
“The main challenge for me was the fight sequences. I have never done so much fighting; the introductory fight sequence took two days to complete. Rocky Rajesh, a fight master from the South, was on board and after a few fighting scenes he started liking me and he kept pushing me to do more complex fight scenes. So that was a challenge. There is a marked difference between the first season’s Animesh Dutta and this season’s Animesh Dutta. In the first one, the character would silence people with his sharp tongue but in this, he also uses his combat techniques to deal with the antagonists. We enjoyed it thoroughly,” said Saswata.

“I am having a whale of a time because it was always the intention to do varied kinds of work. We don’t always get the opportunity and I am glad I got to do a role like this. I am grateful to Rajda and Zee5 for this opportunity as it has got such a massive reach. The character dictated a lot of things including his dialect and my intention was to make it believable. I hope I have been able to do that with conviction,” Gaurav had told t2 earlier.
